Kurita Announces Amalgamation of Canadian Entities

Kurita America, part of the Kurita Group, a leading global provider of industrial water treatment solutions, today announced the amalgamation of Keytech Water Management Company (KTWM) with Kurita Canada Inc. (KCI). The integrated entity will be known as Kurita Canada Inc., headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, and will serve customers throughout Canada.

KTWM initially joined the Kurita Group in April 2021. The integration of the two companies will optimize the management resources of KCI, which operates in the western part of Canada, with KTWM that currently serves the eastern part of the country.

“We’re very pleased that in bringing our Canadian entities together, we’re able to better address the diverse challenges faced by our customers,” said Kurita America’s CEO Greg Becker. “As a global leader, we’re excited to bring a broad portfolio of innovative technologies and solutions to the Canadian marketplace.”

Established in 1981, KTWM is a regional water treatment provider in eastern Canada serving multiple industries, including biofuels, food and beverage, institutional segments, and others. KTWM has a chemical manufacturing facility in Kitchener and has field teams positioned across Ontario to support chemical and equipment applications.

The Kurita Group is one of the largest water treatment providers in the world with approximately 8000 employees located across 35 countries and R&D centers in Japan, Germany, and Singapore. Kurita is dedicated to creating shared value for customers and society through the development of sustainable business practices and technologies.

Keytech Kurita Customer FAQ’s Answers

Please find the following frequently asked questions (FAQs) in regard to the acquisition of Keytech Water Management (Keytech) by Kurita Canada, Inc. (Kurita).

Q1: Can you provide an overview of what has transpired?

A1: On April 19, 2021, it was publicly announced that Kurita Water Industries (Kurita), headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, the completion of its acquisition of Keytech Water Management through its North American subsidiaries in a stock purchase deal. Keytech will operate as a 100% consolidated subsidiary of Kurita Canada, Inc. Please see the formal Press Release for further information.

Q2: Will the management of Keytech be changing?

A2: No. The driving force for Kurita’s interest in Keytech was its people and our history of being technically strong and customer-focused. The management team of Keytech will remain in place. The former president, Douglas Halbert, will continue to lead the organization forward as general manager.

Q3: Will our Keytech Sales/Service Representatives be changing?

A3: No. Your current Keytech Sales/ Service Representative will stay the same. You can expect to receive the same great customer service and support.

Q4: Will any of the products, services, or solutions we currently buy be affected?

A4: All products, services, and solutions Keytech provides to you will continue to be offered and supported. In the near future, our products and services will be augmented with new and exciting world-class offerings from Kurita.

Q5: Who should I contact for support or with questions?

A5: Please continue to contact your Keytech representative in the same way you always have.

Q6: Is the name Keytech Water Management changing to Kurita?

A6: Not at present time. Over time, the brand Kurita will become more common.

Q7: Will the headquarters location and address be changing?

A7: No. Keytech’s headquarters, manufacturing and warehouse facility, laboratory, and administrative offices will continue to be based in Kitchener, Ontario.

Q8: How do we place our orders?

A8: You can place orders just as you always have.

Q9: Will my invoices change?

A9: No. Over time, as the Kurita name is introduced, the look and feel of your invoice may be updated.

Q10: Should our payments be submitted as usual?

A10: Yes. Nothing changes with regard to remittances.

Q11: Will your website change?

A11: No, not in the near term. Over time, the Keytech website is likely to be consolidated into a broader Kurita site for the Americas.

Q12: What happens to our current Aquaplan Water Treatment Agreement?

A12: Nothing changes. We will continue to meet all contractual commitments with the same excellent customer service you have grown to expect.

Q13: What if I have a proposed Water Treatment Quotation, will this change impact me?

A13: No. Pending quotations will continue as usual. There is no change in our timelines, and we will continue to meet all existing and proposed commitments.

Q14: Why was Kurita interested in Keytech?

A14: The addition of Keytech to the Kurita family is consistent with Kurita’s strategic focus to expand its businesses globally with established bases in four regions of the world – Japan, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Kurita is systematically strengthening its businesses in North America, an example being the formation of Kurita America in April of 2020. Investment in Keytech and in Canada is another milestone in Kurita’s strategic journey.

Kurita Expands Presence in North America, Completes Acquisition of Keytech Water Management of Canada

Kurita Water Industries (Kurita) (Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan), a leading global provider of water treatment solutions, today announced the completion of its acquisition of Keytech Water Management (“Keytech”) through its North American subsidiaries in a stock purchase deal. Keytech, which is headquartered in Kitchener, Ontario, will operate as a 100% consolidated subsidiary of Kurita Canada Inc. Douglas Halbert, former president and general Manager of Keytech, will continue to lead the organization as general manager, under the leadership of LaMarr Barnes, CEO of Kurita America.

Keytech’s operations are primarily focused in the province of Ontario in central Canada. Over its forty-year history, Keytech has established itself as a premier, customer-centric provider of water management solutions. Clientele span industries such as industrial, biofuels, food and beverage, and a wide range of manufacturing operations. Commercial and institutional segments including healthcare, educational campuses and commercial buildings are also core to Keytech’s history of success.
